Dear students and parents,
My name is Mr. Grzanna, and I am the General Music teacher this year at Greenfield. I am very proud and pleased to teach music at your school! The subject of music has a wonderful heritage. Many famous composers including Mozart, Beethoven, Louis Armstrong and Tito Puente have created masterpieces for your children to hear. Students will learn about the history of music through the centuries. They will learn about many different styles of music including classical, jazz and blues. We will also explore folk music such as mariachi and other Latin American styles, and world music from many different countries. Students will learn to sing and tap to the rhythm. They will have a chance to move to the beat, dance and use rhythm instruments. They will learn about melody, harmony, composition, improvisation and dynamics. They will learn the names of notes and some music theory. They will learn about many musical instruments and the sounds they can create. Students are expected to give their full cooperation, and enjoy the musical discoveries to come. If you have any questions, feel free to call the secretary and leave a message or place a note in my mailbox at the school office, and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thank You, Mark Grzanna Music Specialist Greenfield School |
