Josue Davalos MATC Graduate
Josue Davalos, is an undocumented MATC graduate who now works with Voces de la Frontera. He came to speak the 8th grade Bilingual class about his experience growing up in Wisconsin as an undocumented immigrant, his struggles in accepting that some people might not want him here, and what drove him to overcome his fear and anger regarding that to finish college and apply for DACA. It was REALLY inspiring!

Ms. Aviles, Ms. Velazquez, Ms. Begel
Greenfield Bilingual School 1st graders had a very “hoppy” time when the authors and illustrator of the children’s book “The Voyage of Che the Tree Frog” came to visit!! The visitors shared the story of Che, a tree frog from El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico who leaves his home in order to find a more exciting life, but finds that home is not always as boring as we think it is. Students were not only treated to a reading of the story by the author herself, but also learned about the rain forest, el Coquí and practiced hopping around like Che searching for yummy “moscas” to eat. The energy and creativity of the experience is one students, and staff, will remember for years to come!!

Ms. Junker spoke to the students not only about what academic classes they will need to become an interior designer, but what soft skills they need in order to be successful in the field of interior designs and why those skills are equally important.
